General Discussion / Re: Scale
« on: November 11, 2016, 04:09:56 pm »
That is a royal stuffup. Maria-C is one of the first ships and was a generic made up ship given the name of a similar looking real ship. Only later did I decide to only include real ships with real dimensions.
I corrected the length of Maria-c to the correct 34 meter. However the ship is now too narrow (7 meters instead of 9) as the image of the deck isn't the actual Maria-c.

It will have to do for now. This ship is likely to be removed until I get an actual image of her deck.

Bugs / Re: Port Operations Error

Aww rats. I edited the port file incorrectly. And I am away on tour for another two days. My editor on the phone is too small so it will have to wait

Thanks for the tip. I have never tried that. Definitely needs some testing and fixing.

Improvements / Re: To retrieve saved our ships?

I don't understand your message. Your own ships are identified by the red outline.

I don't want to add more icons on the screen because it gets too busy once you get 100 ships on there which is probably a very conservative estimate once I start promotion.

Improvements / Re: Contact with the other captains chat?

Yes we definitely need some form of communication. Probably a link into existing chat applications as management of chat is a whole app in itself

Improvements / Re: Destination information

I was/am working on a dialog Panel to show more elaborate ship information when you click on them. Providing destination certainly makes things more interesting.

General Discussion / Re: More cruise ships

Yeah, eventually I want a huge fleet of ships and more ports. At this point I am focusing on getting the software to work properly. It is only possible to have a top down view as I am using Google maps. As soon as Google allows programmer access to their 3D maps I can go 3D too.

Hi. Custom start locations are unlikely to happen but I will be adding many more ports over time.

Bugs / Re: Speed of 80 knots !!!
« on: October 28, 2016, 04:43:56 am »
Yeah found and fixed. It happened when the ship was still accelerating and you left the page for a while. Should be fine now. Let me know if it is still an issue.

I am so sorry this free game is not to your liking.  I fixed up that dock. Clear your browsers localstorage and you're good to go.

I'll go and fix the rest of the world now

Bugs / Re: How do you start playing?
« on: October 15, 2016, 06:28:17 pm »
Sorry you have trouble. I need a bit more info.

What Operating system are you using?
Are trying to play anonymous or with Google/Facebook login?

Can you post a screenshot of what the menu looks like for you?

Try this link to see if the rest works.

General Discussion / Re: Speed limit for locks and such

I get through there at a snails pace. 1 or 2 knots. The simulator will not penalize a collision at very low impact speeds.

Bugs / Re: Heading function
« on: October 01, 2016, 02:15:27 pm »
The heading button doesn't do anything at this stage. Yes the simulation only moved forward when the page is looked at. Browser makers decided in their wisdom that the internal animation clock should be stopped when users are on a different tab in the browser.  I agree that the ship should keep moving. Yesterday I added code that pushes the simulation forward at course 1 second intervals even if you are not on the page. This way batteries of mobile devices don't get hit too hard while the simulation keeps running in real time
